TREATMENT OF THE NEWLY PLANTED AREAS NEAR THE 18TH TEE

Dear Members

TREATMENT OF THE NEWLY PLANTED AREAS NEAR THE 18TH TEE

Please note that, with immediate effect, both newly planted areas near the 18th tee are designated Ground Under Repair (GUR) under Heswall Local Rule 4a.

This means that if your ball lies in one of those areas you may either (a) play the ball at it lies or (b) take free relief under Golf Rule 16.1b.

The relief area where you may drop your ball is within one club length of the nearest point of relief, but not nearer the hole. Note that this is the nearest point of relief, not the nicest point of relief, meaning that in certain situations you may find yourself dropping your ball on the sloped bank of the 18th tee.
