VE Day Competition Rescheduled – 19th June 2021

Dear Members

RE-SCHEDULED MEN’S, LADIES AND MIXED VE DAY COMPETITION

POPPY APPEAL GOLF CLASSIC

Saturday 19th June 2021

Thank you to everyone for supporting the re-scheduled Men’s, Ladies and Mixed VE Day team competition next Saturday. At the time of writing there are over 200 members booked in to play in 36 Men’s teams, 18 Mixed teams and 3 Ladies’ teams.

There are still a few vacant slots still available, including some to make up a complete 4-ball, so please do check BRS and book in if you wish to play and join in the fun.

Here’s a reminder of the details for the day:

(a) The Competition

Teams of 4, with the best 2 scores to count on each hole, and all four scores counting on the Par 3s.

There will be Pro Shop voucher prizes for the best Stableford team scores recorded by a Men’s team, a Ladies team, and a Mixed team. The team with the best overall Stableford score will also receive winners’ medals from the Royal British Legion. There will also be prizes for the team with the best front 9 and the team with the best back 9 Stableford scores who are not amongst the main prize winners.

There will be extra prizes for the most appropriately dressed team – so why not play in something red, white, and blue or in your 1940s outfit?

(b) Entry fees

The competition entry fee is £10 per person (£40 per team), with 50% of the proceeds being donated to the Royal British Legion charity. Non-refundable entry fees will be deducted from members’ bar cards on Friday 18th June.

(c) Before your round

Please register your team in the Pro Shop on arrival and collect your scorecard (one per team). All competitors will receive a complimentary Royal British Legion pitch-mark repairer or lapel pin.

This will also be your opportunity to enter the optional ‘Twos’ competition – £1 per person, payable on the day in the Pro Shop. The Pro Shop will also run a raffle with some fabulous prizes on offer.

(d) During your round

The Oasis will be open all day selling a selection of hot and cold drinks and the usual snacks. 50% of the takings for the day will be donated to the Royal British Legion charity.

(e) After your round

Please hand in your completed scorecard, signed by one member of your team, to the competition reception desk which you will find in the atrium/golf reception.

If you wish to enter the ‘most appropriately dressed team’ competition, you should also make this known when you hand in your scorecard so that we can record your entry on camera!

(f) Bar and catering

Bar and catering services will be available all day from 8am to 8pm. As well as the standard menu there will be daily specials, including Woolton Pie and Faggots.

Unlike our original date in May, seating will of course be available both indoors and outdoors with more opportunities to enjoy the period fayre and socialise after golf.

I hope you enjoy the day.
