The Ladies’ Section at Heswall is a warm, welcoming and active community, open to ladies of all ages and golfing abilities. With more than 120 members, regular competitions and a lively social calendar, it’s a fantastic place to enjoy your golf and meet new people.
Our ladies pride themselves on being friendly, inclusive and encouraging. New members are paired with a mentor, introduced to other players, and supported as they settle into the club. Many lasting friendships begin here — on the course, in the clubhouse, or over a drink on the terrace.
From beginners taking their first steps to elite county players, our section offers something for everyone.
We also field three teams in the West Cheshire League, reflecting the strength and depth of ladies’ golf at Heswall.
The ladies’ section enjoys a vibrant social life, with regular gatherings throughout the year. From relaxed postgolf get togethers to themed evenings, afternoon teas and seasonal events, there are plenty of opportunities to connect with other members.
Heswall is home to several outstanding female golfers whose achievements inspire players across the club. From county representatives to national competitors, their success reflects both the strength of ladies golf at Heswall and the supportive environment that helps talent thrive.
Rachael Dransfield began her journey at Heswall and has progressed through the elite levels of the women’s game, competing on the Ladies European Tour and securing three victories on the LET Access Series. Now one of the Professionals at the club, she has recently achieved her PGA accreditation, bringing world-class experience and mentorship to our players.
Lucy Jamieson is one of the most accomplished amateur golfers in the country. Playing off +5, she won the 2025 English Women’s Amateur Championship at Royal Liverpool — one of the most prestigious titles in the amateur game — and claimed victory in the 2024 R&A Student Tour Series Final, contested by leading university players from across Europe. In 2026, Lucy added to her impressive record by claiming co-medallist honours at the 39th U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship at Montclair Golf Club in New Jersey, before narrowly losing 1-down in the match-play stage.
We are also proud to recognise Sara Spencer and Barbara Jamieson, whose longstanding contributions, leadership and competitive achievements have shaped the success of the Ladies’ Section over many years. Their dedication continues to inspire both new and established members.
Together, these players represent the talent, commitment and passion that define women’s golf at Heswall.
For women new to the game, our beginner pathway offers a supportive and enjoyable introduction to golf. With expert coaching from our PGA Professionals, excellent practice facilities and a friendly mentoring system, new players can build confidence at their own pace.
Once comfortable, beginners are invited to join supported on‑course sessions and gradually move into competitions when ready.
We are proud signatories of the R&A Women in Golf Charter and supporters of the #FOREeveryone campaign. We are committed to increasing participation, creating opportunities, and ensuring ladies play a central role in the future of the club.
Whether you’re an experienced golfer or completely new to the game, we’d love to welcome you to Heswall.
