The Wirral Championship (England Senior Series)

Heswall is delighted to host The Wirral Championship, part of the England Senior Series. This 18‑hole individual Stableford event, played with a 95% handicap allowance, welcomes up to 120 competitors aged 50 and over. Players will enjoy tea or coffee with a bacon roll on arrival, followed by a one‑course meal after their round.

Entry opens at 10am on Monday 2 February 2026 for members, and 10am on Monday 23 February 2026 for non‑members. Full eligibility criteria, handicap divisions and qualification pathways for the England Senior Series will be available via the links below.

GolfPairs.com Event

29 July 2026 | Hosted by Heswall Golf Club

Heswall is pleased to host a GolfPairs.com event on 29 July 2026, played as a Better Ball Pairs Stableford with an 85% WHS handicap allowance. The event is open to amateur golfers, with maximum playing handicaps of 24 for men and 28 for ladies.

Multiple leaderboards are available, including the main WHS leaderboard (requiring six qualifying rounds in the previous 12 months), a Golfshake leaderboard, a Gross leaderboard, and optional paid competitions such as Twos, Longest Drive and Par‑3 challenges. Prizes worth up to £1,000 are available, with values adjusted if the event is not full.

Additional on‑the‑day extras include a Twos competition, a four‑hole challenge, entry into the GolfPairs end‑of‑season prize draw, and a contribution to the event’s supported charities.

North of England Under 16 Open Championship

26–28 August 2026 | Hosted by Heswall Golf Club

Heswall Golf Club is proud to host the North of England Under 16 Open Championship, one of the premier junior amateur events in the UK. Played over 72 holes of scratch stroke play, the Championship attracts elite under‑16 golfers from across the country and internationally. After 36 holes across the first two days, a cut is made before the leading players return for 36 holes on the final day to decide the champion.

An Under 14 category is also included within the Championship.

Wirral Golf Classic

13–15 September 2026 | Hosted by Caldy Golf Club, Heswall Golf Club & Wallasey Golf Club

Now in its 17th year, the Wirral Golf Classic is a 54‑hole Single Stableford competition played across three exceptional courses: Caldy, Heswall, and Wallasey, the birthplace of the Stableford format. Open to all amateur golfers with a valid handicap, the event offers three days of competitive golf on the scenic Wirral peninsula.

The entry fee of £385 per person includes play on all three courses and prizes across multiple categories. An optional upgrade is available for two nights’ B&B accommodation with spa access at the 4‑star Thornton Hall Hotel, starting from £145 per person (based on two sharing).

Prizes are awarded for overall Men’s and Women’s categories, as well as Scratch, Vets and Team competitions, with additional daily prizes and nearest‑the‑pin challenges. Competitors are also invited to a welcome drinks reception at Thornton Hall Hotel on Sunday 13 September.
